Sometimes your child needs a little extra support...
Learn how your school's Student Assistance Program (SAP) can help.
What is the Student Assistance Program (SAP)?
SAP is a supportive process that can help your child overcome challenges that may affect their success in school. SAP uses a team approach that works together with you and your child. The goal of SAP is to identify helpful school and community resources and connect your child with those resources to support their overall well-being.

It’s about your whole child.
SAP provides support that is individualized to your child, building on their strengths, interests, and goals. SAP is available for all students and for any reason, such as academics, social, emotional, or behavioral concerns. It can also help address mental health and substance use concerns.

It’s a team effort, and you are part of the team.
The SAP team is a caring group of professionals working together at school to be a bridge to resources. As the family, you are part of the process the whole way through. It is voluntary for your child to participate in SAP, and information is kept confidential within the team.
It’s about identifying and addressing your concerns early.

Anyone can make a referral, including you. You don’t have to be exactly sure of what’s going on with your child to start the SAP process. The team will gather information from you and your child to help determine what your child needs.

How can your child participate in the Student Assistance Program?
If you have concerns about your child’s academic performance, behavior, attendance, emotional well-being, or overall success at school, you can reach out to your child’s teacher, school counselor, principal, or a member of the SAP team. Remember that you can make a referral and request SAP support at any time.
