We know life's a juggling act, especially when you're raising a child with unique mental health needs. But here's a game-changer: our monthly training class, designed for busy parents just like you! 
 

Starting November through March, join us twice a month as we dive deep into school supports and IEP’s. We’ll focus specifically on how services and supports can be used to help our children with mental health challenges and other disabilities succeed at school. 

Select from 2 sessions, Monday nights  7:00 pm - 8:30 pm or Friday's noon - 1:30 pm.

Session  2: Decoding How Schools Work 

Session two is all about deciphering the inner workings of schools. Think of it as unlocking the school's secret rulebook. We'll talk about key players who can either boost or block your child's education. Plus, we'll shed light on special programs and the magic of understanding the school's rules.

Session 3: Staying on the Right Track 

In this session, we'll dive deep into the essential details that are often overlooked. Discover the school's responsibility to identify children who need help, the protective measures in place, and where your child should receive education within the district.

Session 4: Managing Crises and Organizing Files 

Get ready for practical tips! We'll navigate and manage crises that can arise during the parent-school journey. Plus, we'll tackle the mountain of paperwork that can overwhelm any parent.

Session 5: Mastering Evaluations

We're back with valuable information! Learn how to share crucial insights with the school, gather information from your child's mental health providers, and decipher those testing reports without breaking a sweat.

Session 6: Crafting SMART IEP Goals 

Together, let's dive into crafting measurable IEP goals. We'll break down what makes a goal SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) and examine examples of well-crafted goals.

Session 7: Navigating Discipline 

This session focuses on the specific rules and considerations if your child has a mental health diagnosis. We'll explore crucial rules covering discipline for children with disabilities.

Session 8: Effective Advocacy and Problem-Solving

Session 9: Negotiating for the Win! 

Master the art of negotiation and boost your confidence when dealing with decision-makers. You'll receive a pre-meeting worksheet to clarify concerns, anticipate issues, and make effective requests.

Session 10: Position vs. Interest 

Learn a tactic that strengthens your requests by framing them in your child's best interest. We'll also help you connect with a meeting partner – because you're never alone in this journey!
